Recently I've been using Book Creator to make what I call "Rookie/Career" pages for some of my favorite players. The top picture is the earliest version, the bottom picture is the most recent. I like to "live" with a page for awhile before I start tweaking it. Changing colors and lines while leaving the basic information intact can still change the feel of the page. With the Yzerman cards I enlisted the help of my hobby friends on Hobby Insider (HI), asking them for suggestions before ending up with the final version at the bottom. I own the 2 cards that are shown on the pages, as I like to have a link to my personal collection (pc) with these pages.
Going from left to right on the page the cards are: 1) '92/93 Fleer Ultra #55 2) '94/95 Fleer Ultra "Premier Pivot" 3)'95/96 Fleer Metal #51 4) '94/95 Fleer Ultra "Scoring King" 5) '96/97 Metal Universe #51 6) '95/96 Fleer Ultra #51 7) '05/06 Fleer Ultra #74
Any Blue Oyster Cult fans out there? I love listening to music, especially anything from the 70's and 80's. Blue Oyster Cult has an awesome song called "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", and as I was organizing my Yzerman cards the title just jumped out at me when I pulled the Fleer cards aside. I decided to take a break from scanning Iginla cards and take a trip through my Yzerman cards. It gives me an opportunity to see cards from the 80's and early 90's that I wouldn't see with my Iginla pc. Choosing Fleer cards also gave me a chance to pull out a small group, although there won't be anything high end to see. One card in particular intrigued me, it is from 1996/97 Metal Universe. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it comes from a set called Armor Plate. As soon as I saw it the first thing that jumped into my head was the Borg from Star Trek. If you look at Stevie's head and arm you can see some futuristic looking armor. I have 7 Fleer cards, and I've put them into a Book Creator page along with the suggestion of the Borg connection. If you look in the middle of the page you'll see a YouTube video link. Obviously it won't work here, but it will in my Book Creator library, and I can listen to (Don't Fear) The Reaper while enjoying my page. (so neat!)
